Well, I went to the store and bought a Xbox 360 so I could play Braid today… (Read the previous post.)
I just finished playing though the first world (collected all the puzzle pieces), and I’m totally blown away by it (pun intended). My congrats to Jonathan Blow and David Hellman and everyone involved. You’ve created one beautiful game.
Also I’d like to repeat what Chris Hecker said about the game. If you enjoy the game (which you will) spread the word. Tell your friends, blog about it, digg about it. Independent games, like Braid, don’t have the marketing power that big studios have. They really need the word-of-mouth to be successful. And if there is any justice in this world, Braid should be a huge commercial success. Put your part in and make sure that Braid doesn’t end up being the Psychonauts of indie games.
Now I’m gonna go and solve the rest of worlds…

I wish I could go out and buy $300-400 systems on a whim…..

@Jon: No worries. Braid can easily top the wildest of expectations.
@Dakaggo: Well, I’m going to regret the purchase in a couple of months when I’m trying to buy food at the market. But that’s what you get when you try to manage your own money.

Do you think you will fool around with XNA? If you put a game in the Xbox Live arcade I would buy it!

You bought an XBOX 360 for a 2D platform game O_o … The joke is on you my friend!

would like a PC version. That’s still TBA.
Hopefully it will be soon (a few months).

I just stumbled upon your blog (through the igf finalists website) and your work is incredible. Braid looks amazing and I can’t wait to get it.
I agree with chance. XNA all the way.

For the record, I made it sound like you made Braid. I was referring to your crayon physics deluxe.
sorry for the potential confusion ^_^

About the XNA. The problem I have with it (on the PC side) is the horrible installation package thing. I’ve played several XNA games and with almost all of them I’ve had trouble getting them working on my PC. I’ve had to download several updates from Microsoft site to get them running. If Microsoft fixes that problem on PC side, then I’ll give it a change.
Also about the XNA stuff on 360. There are currently 5 or 6 countries from which you can submit your games to the Creators Club. Finland isn’t one of them. I hope it will be in the future, but there might be some problems with the law and paying taxes that can cause a lot of trouble for Microsoft…

I downloaded the demo. It’s kind of like Choke on my Groundhog, YOU BASTARD ROBOTS the way you can go back in time, diddn’t see that coming. I will buy the full game when I get more Microsoft Points.

I’m not surprised that XNA doesn’t work well without updates, but I am surprised about the country limitations. That seems counter productive on their end.

Tested & liked, blew my mind. Will buy Braid asap. Housemarque did publish the first finnish Live Arcade game Golf Tee It Up! So maybe Petri you can go around the problem with publishing from Finland?

@dppedro: I heard you got married
Congrats!
Anyhow, XBLA != XBox Creator’s Club thing…

I’ll get on to helping him succeed as soon as he releases the damn thing on a real platform.
I hear for this so-called “xbox” you need a “television” as well before you can even play anything on it. Damn accessories. This makes it even less likely that I’d buy one just to play Braid.

I played the trial and while it was enjoyable, it didn’t wow me like the reviews would have you believe… And for 1200 MS Points? Look, I’m all for supporting the independent developers, but damn.
