Going to GDC
Lucky me, in a couple of hours I’m off to the Game Developers Conference. I should probably sleep, but I can’t. I’m too excited. Not that much about GDC, but because I have two new games on my computer that I can’t really play until I get back from San Francisco. The first one is World of Goo’s Chapter One and the second game is Audiosurf. I pre-ordered both of them and they both were released right in the middle of this GDC travel mess that I’m trying to sort out.
If Kyle and Ron had released all the chapters to World of Goo, I would have probably just said “Screw GDC, I’m staying home playing World of Goo and Audiosurf”. Lucky for me they didn’t.
Anyway if anyone reading this will be at GDC, come by the IGF booths and say hello. I’ll be there playing World of Goo and Audiosurf. I also have my own game there that I’m supposed to be demonstrating and representing. But to be honest I’d rather just surf through my Fantomas collection, which I’m planning of installing on Dylan’s computer as soon as he moves away from it.
Oh and didn’t get the Grammar Nazi update done in time. I blame Tim and his interview!

I will stop by to say hello. Hopefully you will be around.

Great. I’ll try to be there at all times, except when Jonathan Blow is talking
February 16th, 2008 at 3:31 am
lucky for you both world of goo and autiosurf will be at the IGF pavilion right by your side… you can play all you want when you get here
February 16th, 2008 at 4:57 am
I got world of goo too. Awesome. Absolutely awesome.
I want to try the audiosurf demo before I get it. Smash Bros. comes out next month & my birthday is this month so don’t want to overdo the game thing.

Rip off or collaboration? They even use the same music!
Even in the worst case, it could be interesting to have some agreement as they seems to have more resources. Maybe they acted bad, but they are a small company.
Try to avoid lawyers, they are the evil of the world…

I’m super excited about meeting the minds behind all three games, so you’re sure to get a visit from me as well.
February 16th, 2008 at 3:29 pm
Haha, have a fun time at GDC. The MONOCLE KIND OF FUN TIME.
February 17th, 2008 at 8:44 pm
@annoyingmouse: It’s a rip off. The worst kind actually. I don’t want to tell all the details, but it’s pretty awful.

Playing AudioSurf with Fantômas ! Haha ! That should be quite a ride ! Try with Ephel Duath (http://www.myspace.com/ephelduath) or Ghengis Tron (http://www.myspace.com/genghistron) while you’re at it.

Congradulations on winning the big prize at IGF. You should change the Crayon Physics website to winner of IGF instead of finalist. If this game won that award than I can not wait for the official release. Good job

im sorry but seriously when is crayon deluxe coming out???? im so impatient!!!
February 21st, 2008 at 7:00 am
Congrats on winning. I love audiosurf. Me and a friend have been sharing remixes of already fast techno songs. Man, that game can get tough.
I finally tried out Crayon Physics, great game. The level I had the hardest time with was the DK level. But once I found out you can “die” and the level won’t restart everything.

“He has an acceptance speech he wrote on crayon, and he shows the paper to the audience: “Fuck Yeah.” Great speech!”

Congratulations, Purho. My only wish in this life is to have something this badass written about me:
“The Helsinki native accepted the award by swearing loudly and then thanking his parents for letting him play with crayons.” (http://www.gamespot.com/news/6186459.html)

When I stumbled on the Crayon Physics prototype I thought ‘What a divine idea!!!’
Later, seeing the YouTube-video, I found it even more fascinating (well, I’ aware that I was not the only one…)
Great job, really! May your creativity flow endlessly!
